URBAN DEVOTION BIRMINGHAM

WHAT?
Urban Devotion Birmingham (UDB) is a group of people passionate about seeing the regeneration of urban environments as places where young people can thrive and realise their potential.  We run programs, clubs and activities to connect with young people and to combat the prevailing issues of crime, deprivation and anti-social behaviour.

WHEN?
UDB was launched in the summer of 2003 as a community-led initiative to support the development of young people in Perry Common, North Birmingham.

WHY?
UDB exists to serve the community and engage with young people in order to communicate value and worth to them.  UDB seeks to release young people to fulfil their potential through building relationships with them and equipping them through education and activities.

HOW?
UDB is a partnership of trustees, employees, volunteers, prayer partners and financial supporters.  UDB is a not-for-profit organisation that seeks to respond to the needs of the community.  To do this UDB depends on external support in the form of prayer, volunteering, donations, grants and partnership.

VALUES
UDB is built on Christian values that aim to see young people break free from any limitations and be all that they can be:

Faith
We believe in God’s ability to transform lives and communities

Prayer
We trust in God’s ability to lead us, and to impact both our lives and the lives of people in our community

Authentic
We believe in building genuine relationships built on mutual respect that affirm the value and worth of young people

Example
We believe in setting a good example and equipping young people to be positive role models to those around them

Hope
We want our community to be an amazing place where people can overcome obstacles and follow their dreams

Opportunity
We believe in giving young people fresh opportunities no matter what negative choices they may have made in the past

Compassion
We try to understand the issues facing young people and demonstrate encouragement, concern and support.

Responsibility
We believe young people deserve the best so we have Child Protection and Health & Safety policies in place to ensure they are looked after properly
